Lima, Peru church plant update

WorldReach is partnering with Prince Avenue Hispanic Baptist Mission (Athens, GA) to plant a conservative, evangelical Baptist church in Lima, Peru. We received an email update today from Brother Jesus, the leader of this new work.

Brother Jesus continues to lead a weekly bible study that meets in his restaurant. There are ten people who attend. Three of these desire to be baptized, so Jesus will meet with them separately to discuss baptism and make certain they are ready for it. Pastor Baca will be traveling to Lima in July and plans on baptizing them at that time.

A married couple and a college student want to have Bible studies at their homes. This is a wonderful step forward for a church planting movement. However, as God brings new places to begin Bible studies, trained leadership is needed to make certain solid biblical doctrines are taught. Please pray for lives to be transformed in these homes.

Brother Jesus and his wife will be in Athens next month. Part of his time here will be spent with Pastor Baca and Brother Ivan Palma (another church planter Pastor Baca is training) at a training conference in Atlanta (April 21-25).

God continues to move forward in what He is doing to mobilize and equip His people for planting this new church in Lima. Please pray for Brother Jesus, his family, the people attending the bible studies, and all those whose lives are yet to be touched through this new church plant.
